British Airways (BA) had increased its share of the market to and from South Africa by 4 percent, by introducing more flights at a time when the airline was cutting capacity on other routes, Ashley Cowen, its area general manager for Africa and Asia-Pacific, said last week reports Bussiness Report.

Geneva - The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced international scheduled traffic results for May showing passenger demand declining 9.3% compared to the same month in previous year while freight demand was down by 17.4%. International passenger load factors stood at 71.2%, down from 74.5% recorded in May 2008.

Kuala Lumpur - The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced that Cathay Pacific Airways CEO Tony Tyler started his one-year term as the Chairman of the IATA Board of Governors. Tyler succeeds Samer Majali, CEO of Royal Jordanian Airlines, who served as Chairman from June 2008.
