Kenya Airways unveils special fares

Kenya Airways announced it introduced attractive fare offers on some of its domestic and international routes for the month of June.

A statement from the airline said it will be offering special lower fares to accommodate the needs of travellers who are facing harsh economic times.

"With this offer, passengers travel cheap to destinations such as Dubai and Johannesburg which offer numerous business and trading opportunities," Kenya Airways Chief Executive Officer Titus Naikuni said in the statement.

Under this offer, travellers to Mombasa, east Kenya, will pay 4, 000 shillings (about 51.3 U.S. dollars) for one way traffic while those travelling to Dubai will pay a return fare of 280 dollars.

Other reductions are on the Entebbe route where return fares will go for 160 dollars, Johannesburg return will be 399 dollars and Maputo 665 dollars.

Kenya Airways, which has been investing in improving its own capacity to handle its growing list of international destinations, has set up new facilities at its hub in Nairobi to enable it to handle its passengers, cargo and deliver safe flights.

Since the beginning of the year, Kenya Airways has embarked on programs to stimulate demand for air travel.

The "TakeOff 50 percent" in the month of February helped increase intra-Africa traffic. In addition to this, the airline has introduced new routes within the African continent.

In March, KQ launched thrice weekly flights to the Republic of Congo and early this month Libreville, Gabon, joined the KQ network.

From July 3, Kenya Airways will operate twice weekly flights to the oil-rich capital of Malabo in Equatorial Guinea.

Kenya Airways serves about 3 million passengers annually flying to 45 destinations in 38 countries, including cities across Africa, as well as Amsterdam, Paris and London and selected destinations in Asia, including Dubai, Mumbai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Bangkok.
