British Airways is increasing its number of flights into Uganda from the current three to five flights per week. More frequencies will save travellers money and time wasted in having connections through other countries and then later come to Uganda.
The airline - starting this October 28 will have an additional two flights - on the Entebbe-London Heathrow route, despite the global economic slowdown, which has hit the airline industry.
British Airways is the only commercial airline to offer direct flights between Entebbe and London.
Making the announcement last on Monday, Ms Faith Chaitezvi, British Airways’ country commercial manager for Uganda said; “This is indeed a great development for BA passengers and Ugandan travellers in general. The move demonstrates the confidence that we have in Uganda as a destination and the importance we place on this route and the region.”
Ms Chaitezvi said while many of the BA customers use their services to fly to London on business or for visiting friends and family, they have seen an increasing amount of transfer traffic with Washington, New York and Toronto - the most popular destinations for onward travel among Ugandan customer base.
Flights from Entebbe to London will depart at 21:35pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays arriving at 6:55a.m.
While Flights out of London to Entebbe will depart at 10:45a.m on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays arriving at 19:10p.m.
“We at BA Uganda are extremely proud to be able to offer our clients increased travel flexibility from Entebbe, London and connecting destinations. This move represents a new chapter in BA’s growing relationship with Uganda and we are confident that it will be beneficial to both parties,” Ms Chaitezvi said.
All customers benefit from arriving into the airline’s new Terminal 5 building at Heathrow, which offers direct connections onto BA’s extensive network of over 140 destinations worldwide.
The Lead fare to London Heathrow’s Terminal 5 is $699 (Shs2.4 million) and the airline offers a three cabin service consisting of Club World, World Traveller plus (WTP) and World traveller (WT).
